Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

And here it is, the long lost episode that is now  waaaaaay out of date, but still contains messages and meanings most  dire. And the message is all about Neveldine/Taylor’s Nicolas Cage-starring blockbuster of a Marvel film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. We also discuss other things, like Mass Effect 3, Street Fighter X Tekken,  Tales of the Abyss, Knights if the Old Republic, and Doritos tacos. Joining us on this epic take is Daryl Surat from AWO, Niko from CineGeek, and Basil’s buddy Caleb. Oh and I guess I was there, too.

OSMnotes

BUY BUY BUY BUY.

Also, we are back! And we will have another episode… SOONER THAN YOU THINK!

Which considering how long it’s been since the last update, we have some leeway there.

But sooner!

HAHA JOHN OF CHAINSAW BUFFET! WE SAW THIS! YOU DIDN'T! SUCKER!!! (We kid!)

The gang's all... here?

Just when you thought we were going to post our review of the new Makoto Shinkai movie first, we double back and release our FMA movie one instead! That’s right, this time the OSMcast tackles the movie Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, animated by Bones and directed by Kazuya Murata. We’re joined by Daryl Surat of Anime World Order, Otaku USA, Crunchyroll News, and wherever there is justice to be found. We also delve into the nature of the reoccuring shonen film staple, and Trigun: Badlands Rumble. It’s a fun time!

OSMnotes

When will Funimation out  Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos? Chances are, as soon as they can.  They know how to strike while the iron is hot, unlike some other studios (Anchor Bay!). However, Trigun: Badlands Rumble is hitting September 27th!  You can tell Basil’s opinion of Trigun: Badlands Rumble as he keeps referring to it as Trigun: Badass Rumble. And Basil didn’t even like the original Trigun that much! So it should be a pretty safe buy. If you know, you like awesome stuff. Which we assume you do since well, you’re on our site.

AWA Fun Times are a comin’! What kind of OSMcast panels are we throwing out for AWA this year?! Well here they are:

  • Engrish Jambore II – Engrish Haldel: Basil and Drew started this panel at AWA last year, and we are returning once again to deliver tlue rove for all that rove engrish.
  • Anime’s Creepy Uncle – Go Nagai At A Glance: Basil and Kevin gush how awesome Go Nagai is and why you should think he is awesome too.
  • Getting Your Anime Groove Back: Think you might be getting out of anime? Well Basil just might have some shows to get you back in the game, as it were. And is an excuse to show off the first 13 minutes of Redline.

We’ll probably have actual times and places for these panels closer to the con itself. Next time, we’ll actually post our review of the latest Makoto Shinkai film Children Who Chase Lost Voices from Deep Below, along with AWO‘s Gerald.

OSMcast: Drive Angry 03-07-2011

Play

The best movie of 2011 you probably never saw!

This podcast was in fact so angry, we had to let it cool down for an extra two weeks just so we could get it out here. It’s all about Nicolas Cage’s latest vehicle of awesomeness, Drive Angry. Always angry special guest Daryl Surat joins us for this drive-filled action packed people talking exciting episode of excitement. We talk about all sorts of things that seemed really important at the time! And quite possibly still do!

OSMnotes

Sadly, as it turned out that even two eeks ago, Drive Angry was already out of our local theaters. It’s a real shame. But these things do tend to come out in home media form, so when it does, you should watch this film, 3D or no!

Also, Momocon has already happened, but it was fun! A good time was had by all. Next up on the OSMcast Road Show? MTAC! We’ll be present two lovely panels for your education and also possibly amusement! We’ll be rocking out with the Getting Your Anime Groove Back panel that was discussed IN THIS VERY EPISODE. And also, Anime’s Creepy Uncle, a Glance at Go Nagai, which may or may not have been mentioned, I can’t remember. Still, it’s gonna be fun. It’s gonna be crazy.

It’s gonna be awesome.

OSM ROBO!!!

According to Lee: "The blue lines aren't because I drew it on notebook paper. They are in fact the enemy robot's barrier shield that the OSMrobo is ripping through."

As we all know, the first thing you do in a new year is to look back at the previous year, unless you have a decade to deal with. So to ring in 2011 we have got the first half of the 2010 OSMawards! In this just-shy-of-two-hours BEHEMOTH of a podcast we tackle the “passive” media of 2010. TV shows, movies, anime, novels, stuff you consume but don’t interact with… pretty much everything expect video games.  So strap in, get some nice hot cocoa a warmin’, and listen to us yammer for a while!

Bonus: And gaze up the MAJESTY that is OSMrobo that Lee drew while recording. His fists are fists of JUSTICE. And awesomeness.

OSMnotes

Bonus props to Narutaki of Reverse Thieves for rising to the challenge letting us know her picks via Twitter to help us fill in the gaps! If you’s also like to your thoughts in on a particular subject before we record, just keep an eye out for Basil’s twitter feed. Usually the day of recording or so, he’ll be asking for input.

Speaking of asking for input, Basil was invited onto the Chainsaw Buffet podcast to further talk about the year 2010, which he did with gusto. Keep an eye for it!

OSMcast: Scott Pilgrim 9-13-2010

When in doubt, video games.

Running with a full four man crew the OSMcast! is BACK and talking about SCOTT PILGRIM. Vs, uh, I dunno, a bunch of stuff! We talk about the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O’Malley, the movie adaption of said graphic novels directed by Edgar Wright, as well as the video game that adapts from both those things made by Ubisoft Montreal. That’s a lot of stuff!

GET YOUR LINKS ON: Anime3000! Empire Building Architect Sean Russell is the man with the plan, and that plan is to have all sorts of podcasts and other sorts of crazy stuff for your perusal. From his A3K Panel and Bonus Round, Reverse Thieves’ The Speakeasy, and Josh Dunham’s Animēshon Podcast, there is a TON of stuff to listen to. A TON. (Also, a ton of links.)

OSMnotes

I GUESS you could go see the movies, but really the best thing you can do is get you some of those BOOKS. Most of the bi ol’ booksellers of the land should have them thanks to to movie, or you could just order then from Amazon.

And sure, we have absolutely nothing to do with Anime Hell, but it's always, always a highlight of the show.

And hell, the Scott Pilgrim website even has the first few pages up from each book to check out if you are so interested. Or you could not, I guess! THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

And THIS WEEK. AWA. Anime Weekend Atlanta. MAN OH MAN. They even have a PDF OF THE SCHEDULE. It is filled to the BRIM with bombastic anime con panel goodness. And this year we actually are getting to help add to that gumbo of greatness, goulash of grandiose, guacamole of gloriousness. That anime con schedule of anime conisity.

The gameplay is as good as the plot is generic. That's Ys!

The OSMrenditions Panels of Power both happen on Friday. At 1 in the Special Events room in Kennesaw we’ll be having an Engrish Jamboree! Come celebrate politically incorrect racism as we laugh at Japanese people failing at the English language. Then at 4 in one of Panel Rooms (Galleria 104) we’ll be hosting the AWA Wild World of Sports (Anime).  I bet you’ll never be able to tell what we are talking about!

Of course, we could be making surprise appearances at other panels. Say for example at 3:30 on Saturday in Kennesaw there is a Podcaster roundtable, and we just happen to be a podcast! That podcasts a lot about anime! Hmmm! And also on Saturday earlier at 1:00 in Galleria 104 there is a Con DJing 101 panel, and we happen to have a DJ on deck, who tends to spin at anime cons… HMMMM.  And, as always, one can never tell when Basil is going to assault random con goers with microphones. Good times!

The name says it all, really.

With summer comes summer movies. Comic book movies. We tend to like both these things so we have a podcast for people who like comic book movies. In particular this go-around, Kick -Ass!

PROMO: Anime82! Host, mad-man, genius Regan Strongblood had a dream. He would talk about anime, and then get a bunch of other podcasters to talk about anime on his same show. The results, they are substantial.

OSMnotes

Speaking of the Anime82 podcast, the last third of the OMEGA-MECHA-THON-2000 should be posted soon, and will have Basil, Kevin, and Lee blabbing on about Mazinkaiser. Pretty good stuff!

And in OSMcast news, June is filled with ACTION-PACKED PANEL EXCITEMENT. DJ EXCITEMENT. We are going to two cons. Same month. MADNESS. HamaCon, and Seishun-Con.

Blah.

Blah.

Well, the original plan was to have this last week and a full lenngth podcast this week, but at least this gets us back on track. And this tracks starts off with Basil and Kevin half-heartily discuss that live action film Dragonball Evolution while all the cool kids talk about the new Transformers movie. Whatever!

OSMnotes

If you were hoping for something more scathing, you can go read this. You’ll find waaaaaay more hate and vitriol in it than we could ever muster about this movie.

In other news hey, new contest! IT’s deisgne dto help us kick off our foray into the exciting thrill-packing world of um… books!

If deemed awesome, nay, OSM enough… We’ll probably get to a podcast about it! However, no Twilight ladies. That stuff gets enough traction as it is. Also no Anita Blake stuff after book 4. No really. Theyre terrible at math.

No really. They're terrible at math.

Here on the OSMcast, we thought what better way to celebrate Memorial Day than to remember all those wonderful, brilliant thoughts and dreams that were snuffed out so many years ago when we all thought Episode One was going to be good. That’s right, we are talking about the movie Fanboys.

It’s a (totally not true) story about some dudes that were so hyped to see a rough cut of The Phantom Menace that they road tripped to the Skywalker Ranch to steal it. This story ends up being way better than the movie they wanted to steal.

Promo: The Greatest Movie EVER!We’ve reviewed two live action movies and not pimped the good Mr. Chapman’s podcast. Well this has now been fixed. He talks a lot about movies. In a podcast format. It’s pretty great. You should probably listen to it.

OSMnotes

So you may ask yourself, “Where can I find this Fanboys movie? I’m curious to watch it now. lol!” You can most likely find it online  for either DVD or even Blu-ray, if you really want to!

A glimpse to chaos that is when you pit Plants againts Zombies.

A glimpse of the chaos that is when you pit Plants against Zombies.

But truly, do you want to order something like this online? What you should do, is make an event of it! Gather your friends! Take a trip to go get it. In fact, don’t go to your local Wal-mart or Target, head over to the town next over! Have some madcap adventures while you’re at it. Trust me, it will be more fun that way.

If nothing else, this movie truly shows one that the trip is worth more than the destination.

And this is when I pimp the contest:

Send us an email at osmcast@gmail.com and tell us what you thought about the new Dragonball Evolution live action film.

Perhaps you liked it! Or mayhap you hated it with a passion of a thousand suns. It could even be you are somewhere in between. Hell it can even be about the PSP game. No matter what the opinion is, we want to hear about it. To sweeten the pot, we are giving away two Dragonball Evolution posters. One is for our favorite email, and the second will be an email picked at random. Once you get said poster, do with it whatever you desire. Put it on your ball, or burn it in effigy! We don’t care!

Also, talk to us via the OSMline aka 206-202-0071 , and you may obtain the freakiest homemade Sackboy head EVER. Just sayin’.

It’s taken a few movies this year to get to it, but we finally got it. A really good geek film. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? It’s called Star Trek, and it’s the topic of this week’s episode of the OSMcast!

Promo: Black Flower Music! We met this wonderful individual at the podcast panel at MTAC this year, as he was the guy running the panel. It turns out his podcast also went to the OSM School of Fine Podcasting, in that his subject matter (like rock and roll) is not held back by gender or nationalities. Or you know, once specific genre of media. Check them out!

OSMnotes

It’s out in theaters so if somehow you haven’t seen it yet go do so! The podcast will still be here when you get back.

But speaking of geek films, we have a contest about something that wasn’t so hot:

A coworker asked me over this past week: “So what happened to the Survivor Horror in Resident Evil 5?”

I told him: “It’s now called sitting through Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.”

I know this, because I have sat through this movie.

This episode is pretty much just a PSA to the world that no one ever should go see Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.EVER. But you all probably knew that. We went to go make sure, because sometimes you have to stand, even when it’s hard to stand.

And now our horrors have been shared and brought to you.

Please do not go see this film. Do not rent this film. This isn’t a bad-good. This is just poor. Do not say that we did not warn you.

Also, we have a forum now. Please go post in it!
