OSMcast! Show #186: SK8 the Infinity

So, it’s not often that Basil gets to con other OSMcasters into a sports anime. Usually he watches them alone in the lofty mountains like a hermit, waiting upon the call from Kory to descend upon the Earth for an episode of the Taiiku podcast. However, this time it is different. This time… he has acquired not only Kevin, but also Douglass for this most righteous of causes. This time, it is time for the endless. The never ending. The limitless. The sports anime… about skateboarding. Down a death canyon of terror. For kicks. A completely realistic portrayal of skateboarding. Yep. That’s what this is. It’s time for SK8 the Infinity, from the anime studio Bones. Finally.

OSMnotes

What should Bones tackle next? Maybe an adaptation of EA Sports It’s in the Game BIG It’s Tricky to Rock a Rhyme to Rock a Rhyme That’s Right on Time It’s SSX Tricky? Who knows! Anyway, Time Cues:

OSMbonus! Intro to Dick Fight Island 101

Hello and welcome a preview to a whole new era of the OSMcast! We’ve had Patreon going on for a while now, and we appreciate everyone who has pitched in! So now it’s time to kick it up a notch. Now whenever we record an episode of the OSMcast, we are going to start saving the immediate bits when we start recording and release those as bonuses for our $5 and up patreons. But we aren’t going to just spring that on y’all! So, this first episode is free for everyone! And we decided if we were gonna start this, we were gonna go hard.

So here is the first ever OSMbonus, where we talk about the manga Dick Fight Island by Reibun Ike! It’s published by SuBLime. Which now that I’m looking at it, yeah, it’s got BL right in there doesn’t it? Much like Dick Fight Island, it does exactly what it says on the tin.

Notes? What notes! This is bonus episode why would there be notes? I guess if you want the other reviews that we reference here is the list:

Well, if you want more episodes, you now know what to do!

OSMcast! Show #185: Culver’s, CurderBurgers & Custard

It began as an April Fool’s joke. On October 15th however, Culver’s decided to make their joke a reality. That day? October 15th, 2021: National Cheese Curd Day. The joke? The CurderBurger: a Deluxe ButterBurger® topped with a crown of golden fried cheese. Made up of a blend of yellow and white cheddar Cheese Curds all surrounded by crispy seasoned breadcrumbs, the cheese crown offers a warm, buttery crunch and gooey cheddar in every bite. Also? We were there. And we podcasted about it. Oh, and about their custard, but that’s more of a year-round sort of thing.

Then we forgot to edit and post that podcast for months. But, just like Culver’s, we finally made it happen. Months later. Enjoy!

OSMnotes

So hey! How about then Culver’s? Still good stuff. More good stuff? More OSMcasts in the future! Including a new bonus thing for Patreons? Possibly. But until then, Time Cues:

OSMinterview! Natalie Van Sistine on 5/27/2022

We may be done with MTAC interviews, but at the end of May John gave us the most wonderful surprise. He had the chance to get to chat with Natalie Van Sistine! And let’s be honest. We are all watching Spy x Family. It’s great. You know it, and we know it. Whether it’s in manga form, and now anime form, it rules. The voice cast on either side of the globe are also stellar! And who happens to be the voice of Yor in English? If you answered Natalie Van Sistine, you would be correct!

But she’s not just the voice of Yor, she’s also the voice of other characters such as Irene Adler/James Bonde in Moriarty the Patriot, Saya Irino in Black Rock Shooter (TV), and others. But she’s also an ADR Engineer, ADR Script Writer, Assistant ADR Director, so pretty much anything in front of the mic or behind it.

OSMnotes

We want to thank Natalie once again for taking the time to chat with us! And you can find all the places where Natalie is by checking out her online at:

OSMinterview! Kari Wahlgren @ MTAC Score!

Well, it’s June so it’s about time to wrap up our interview series from MTAC Score! But perhaps we have saved the best for last?* We had the eminent pleasure to get to chat with Kari Wahlgren. For us, the bunch of Final Fantasy sickos that we all are, she’s best known as the voice of Ashe in Final Fantasy XII. However, some may better know her from her role as Saber in Fate/zero, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works and Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel, or as Celty Sturluson in the Durarara!! series. And in animation work she has performed as such roles as Tigress in the Netflix version of Carmen Sandiego, Shannon in OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, as well as a bunch of different characters in shows like the recent version of DuckTales, The Owl House, Rick and Morty, Infinity Train, and way more to list here. Way more. Although most recently you can hear her as the voice of Baby Scrat in Ice Age: Scrat Tales on Disney+.

* That’s not true they were all amazing and the best.

We wanted to thank MTAC and Kari for the chance to chat! If you are interested in following Kari you can find her in a whole bunch of places. For example:

Once again, we really appreciate MTAC and the guests for their time to chat with us. We really hope you’ve enjoyed these interviews! But while that’s it from our chats from MTAC, John was a sneaky spy one and has one more recent interview we cannot wait to share with you.

OSMinterview! Bryce Papenbrook & Cherami Leigh @ MTAC Score!

We are back with an extra packed MTAC Score OSMinterview! This time we have not one, but TWO amazing VAs for your listening enjoyment. Bryce Papenbrook AND Cherami Leigh! Bryce Papenbrook is best known for his portrayals of Kirito in Sword Art Online, Eren Jaeger in Attack on Titan, Inosuke Hashibira in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Rin Okumura in Blue Exorcist, and as Cat Noir in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Also he literally knows how to throw down, with like 4 different black belts and then some. But with a resume no less impressive, Cherami Leigh has been in over 200 different voice roles in both animated works and video games. Roles like Sailor Venus in the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon, Kazari Uiharu in A Certain Magical Index and A Certain Scientific Railgun series, Asuna Yuuki in Sword Art Online, Lucy Heartfilia in Fairy Tail, Makoto Niijima in Persona 5, and the Female V in Cyberpunk 2077 for which she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Performer in a Leading Role.

OSMinterview! Adam McArthur @ MTAC Score!

Once again, we are back with yet another OSMinterview from MTAC Score! This episode, we are chatting with voice actor and martial artist Adam McArthur. Two of the roles he is probably best known for are Marco Diaz in Star vs. the Forces of Evil and Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen. They talk about how important mentors can be, how things don’t have to be a competition, and more!

We wanted to thank both MTAC and Adam for the chance to chat! Our MTAC interviews continue! This time we’re catching back up with the excellent Caitlin Glass, who not only is an actor and voice actor… But is also a Senior Voice Director over at Crunchyroll! Have you watched the excellent Ranking of Kings? Did you catch that dub? If not, you should! Of course, you may recognize her voice as the one behind such roles as Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist), Haruhi Fujioka (Ouran High School Host Club, which she also did double duty as voice direction on!), Cammy White & Decapre (Street Fighter IV & V), and like a bazillion other things.

OSMinterview! Xanthe Huynh @ MTAC Score!

So last month, MTAC finally got the chance to rise from the depths and appear once again as a majestic … well, convention! Ok look as well all know it’s been a minute since a whole con thing as happened and it’s hard getting back on this whole forced metaphor of a bicycle thing. At any rate, a fantastic time. While we were there, we had the wonderful opportunity to talk to some amazing folks.

This time we got the chance to chat with Xanthe Huynh! She’s a voice actress who has been in roles like Menma (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day), Palla-Palla (Sailor Moon SuperS), Yuna Yuki (Yuki Yuna is a Hero), Hanayo Koizumi (Love Live School Idol Project), Maquia (Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms), and a whole lot more.

OSMcast! Show #184: Centaurworld (Season One)

14 years ago, a podcast started. Perhaps you have heard of it? It’s called the OSMcast, your podcast for everything awesome. 14 years later, against all odds, they posted a new episode coincidently on the same day. And that episode? This one. The one you are listening to right now! And this time we are talking about Centaurworld, a cool cartoon for cool people that like cool things created by Megan Nicole Dong, with songs by Dong and Dominic Bisignano. It’s a Netflix show so chances are you can go watch it immediately after listening to this episode.

OSMnotes

14 years. Wow. Also, yikes. But wow. Here’s to 14 more? I guess we should point out that this episode was recorded in the distant past, aka in 2021. A month or two before the second chunk of episodes came out for Centaurworld. Therefore, one could imagine that another episode covering the second half will happen. One could. Alas, we also never finished the Legend of Korra, Hellsing Ultimate, and shoot even Steven Universe had a movie and sequel short series after we thought we had wrapped that up. Then again, we did power through all that Evangelion! So hey! It could happen. But now, Time Cues
