So this episode is more of a KEVINcast, really. But that’s OK, because we are talking about one of his favorite shows from last year! And that show is the revival of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, developed by Noelle Stevenson and produced by DreamWorks Animation Television and Netflix.
But don’t worry, we have some manga talk, video game chatter, and even about how good dogs! Spoiler alert, dogs are very good.
Sometimes, you just gotta keep talking about cartoons. When we last left Rebecca Sugar’s and Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, there was one season. Now… there is the rest of the show, made up of multiple seasons! So we decided to catch up and talk about our favorite moments from the show, and more.
So wow, that was a show! And now we can only wait for the movie. You know, the Steven Universe one. There will be no OSMcast movie. There are however, Time Cues:
It’s a podcast from the OSMcast in 2016! About… 2015! How exciting! So, we thought we were back, only we weren’t. Whoops! But we are here, with an episode. That we recorded all the way back in January! It’s the first half of the 2015 OSMawards, that now is in fact, the entirety.
So yes. While this is the latest OSMcast, this is also the last… To update on a Monday! In the future, we are going to update on every other Friday, and see how that works out. And we should have things coming, as we have recorded a whole new episode last week, and have some interviews from MTAC. But until then, show some time cues~
Sometimes, you just gotta talk about cartoons. And in this latest, greatest episode of the OSMcast, we do just that! This is the episode where we talk about Rebecca Sugar’s and Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe. It’s a show about a boy and his three awesome magical moms. Or aunts. Or, something. It’s pretty great.
We also remissness about that MMO we are always playing, as well as MTAC (next year they’re going 16-bit!), video games, and some silly piece of cloth that Doug adores but will never let anyone ever see. Ever.
Wow! Honestly we had no clue it’s been so long since we did a normal, everyday podcast about a thing we thought was awesome. Thankfully, Steven Universe is pretty amazing, so that works. In other news, Basil was recently on an episode of GME Anime Fun Time, talking about some Redline. It was pretty fun, as Redline is incredible fun and very easy to talk about.
Speaking of talking and things that are fun, we’ll be at Momocon! Well, Basil and Kevin shall be. Not only that, but we’ll be present a slew of panels. A slew! Like… four or five of them. Enough we may just have a post just about that itself. Basil will have to work on that.
Also, we have switched hosting! The OSMcast is now powered by simplecast.fm. What this means is that in May/June we will be switching RSS feeds! So if you would like to switch your RSS now, that might make things easier for the future!
But until then, have some Time Cues:

Oh snap! It’s time for the 2014 OSMcast OSMawards! AKA the not so much awards, more like we just talk about the stuff we liked from the last year. Since last time we did it in the order of Video Games, then TV Shows, THEN Movies, we decided to switch things up! Into reverse order!
So now it’s Movies, then TV Shows, and THEN a whole bunch of Video Games.
Although we kind of start with a video game. But ignore that! Actually… Don’t. Don’t ignore that.
We (and by we, we mean Basil) also complain about things that won’t let us give them money, and also not letting us give them the money on stuff we wanted them to! It’s a gas.
First of, the OSMcast will be at Kami-con, covering the whole dang joint. Fun times shall be had! If you see us around (probably at the Hamacon table), come say hello!

And lo, a year has passed since we all watched the second season, or Book as the kids call it, of the Legend of Korra. But what does that MEAN. Was it worth it? Were they able to write themselves out of the hole that was the complete story arc of Book One? And by that we mean that Book One ended in a way that really didn’t need another season, so the hole we are talking is more the fact there was no hole? But can we DIG IT. Can we place our hands into the ground of The Legend of Korra: Book Two, Spirits and just DIG IT?
Short answer: Yeah pretty much, we are still doing an OSMcast all about after all.
Long answer: Once again, you can have that long answer by click on that episode, and either streaming it RIGHT NOW or download and listen at your earlier convenience. We did spend all that time talking and pontificating all over this here audio file. I’m adding more text here to make the answer longer.
TL;DR: This episode of the OSMcast is about The Legend of Korra: Book Two, Spirits. It’s a pretty cool cartoon made by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino and the second series to the first book and is in general a sequel to Avatar: the Last Airbender. You can go listen to us yap on about how cool we think it is. Which it was. At times. Eh, you’ll find out!
Firstly, here’s a link to the Blu-ray of the second season. Here’s a link to the DVD version.

So, you may have heard about this Korra cartoon THING that just had it’s second season opener and you may wonder if you should go back and catch the first season. But hey, if you ARE wondering that, well we have the answer for you!
Short answer: Yes, of course you should. We even did an OSMcast all about it.
Long answer: You listen to our latest episode that tells you all about it. That’s right here. You can just click about or download it or maybe you have done one of those things. In that case you should have already begun watching the first season. If you haven’t, I guess just listen to the podcast again.
TL;DR: This episode of the OSMcast is about The Legend of Korra: Book One, Air. It’s a pretty cool cartoon made by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino and a sequel to Avatar: the Last Aibender. You can go listen to us yap on about how cool we think it is.

Yeah buddy! Those sure are some TIME CUES. Now how about some PANEL CUES?!
Panel Cues for Anime Weekend Atlanta, as told to Basil by way of AWA unless things change which they totally can!
Manga You Need to Buy Right Now! (9/27/13 3:30 PM-4:30 PM | CGC – 104): Manga, the world of Japanese comics. There used to be an absolute ton of these things on the market, but times are changing… and not for the better. However, there are still a great many series and one shots that are being published today. And we’re going to tell you all about them!
Petals and Penguins: The Work of Kunihiko Ikuhara (9/28/13 5:00 PM-6:00 PM | CGC – 106): The creator and director of Revolutionary Girl Utena, Kunihiko Ikuhara is a man who loves imagery. And metaphor. And messing with your mind. His works make you think, make you feel, and usually not in the ways you’re probably meant to when you started your day. But yet, we always keep coming back for more. From his start in the anime adaption of Sailor Moon, to Penguindrum and beyond, we look into the twisted body of work that has defined Kunihiko Ikuhara.
Getting Your Anime Groove Back (9/29/13 11:00 AM-12:00 PM | CGC – 104): Anime burn out happens all the time. Sometimes life gets in the way and people lose interest in keeping up with the latest shows and news. This panel looks at a few shows that may rekindle that anime fan deep inside that just wants to be free again.
The Weird Side of Go Nagai (9/29/13 2:30 PM-3:30 PM | CGC – 106): While Go Nagai is easily one of the most prolific and influential anime and manga creators of our time, not everyone knows his stranger side. Sure, some anime fans may know the popular stuff like Cutie Honey or Mazinger Z, but what about Aztechkaiser; a tokusatsu pro-wrestling live action show where the hero beats his enemies by turning into animation? Now that’s weird!
As we all know, the first thing you do in a new year is to look back at the previous year, unless you have a decade to deal with. So to ring in 2011 we have got the first half of the 2010 OSMawards! In this just-shy-of-two-hours BEHEMOTH of a podcast we tackle the “passive” media of 2010. TV shows, movies, anime, novels, stuff you consume but don’t interact with… pretty much everything expect video games. So strap in, get some nice hot cocoa a warmin’, and listen to us yammer for a while!
Bonus: And gaze up the MAJESTY that is OSMrobo that Lee drew while recording. His fists are fists of JUSTICE. And awesomeness.
Bonus props to Narutaki of Reverse Thieves for rising to the challenge letting us know her picks via Twitter to help us fill in the gaps! If you’s also like to your thoughts in on a particular subject before we record, just keep an eye out for Basil’s twitter feed. Usually the day of recording or so, he’ll be asking for input.
Speaking of asking for input, Basil was invited onto the Chainsaw Buffet podcast to further talk about the year 2010, which he did with gusto. Keep an eye for it!
