We just got back from MTAC Dueling Dragons in Nashville, Tennessee and there we decided to try something different while we were there: A live panel! Look, all of the other podcasts are doing it, so we decided to jump off a bridge too. But don’t worry, we jumped onto some dragons. Some, theoretically, anime dragons. One could even say we drafted these dragons. Into a dragon draft. Look, it’s all right there in the episode title, really.

Protip: This episode was recorded live from the panel at the con. The audio is decently listenable though! Kinda.

We here at The Manderville Minute have been covering the amazing work of Manderville Family in all facets of Ul’dah life, and this time we have decided to tackle the most gentlemanly of gentlemen: Hildibrand Helidor Maximillian Manderville. He is a Manderville Man that can only do what a Manderville can, as he travels the realm as a self-titled “agent of enquiry, inspector extraordinaire” alongside his assistant, Nashu Mhakaracca. Now wait just a gosh darn moment… No, what do you mean this about an MMORPG called Final Fantasy XIV? No, this is an audio recording all about one of our great Thanalan heroes! Perish the thought that this could be about some mere game.

The Carbuncle Chronicle Issue 21: The Other Half of Growing Light, Patch 6.55!

Hello Adventurers! Now that we are solidly in the true “Wait Till Dawntrail” part of our Final Fantasy XIV life cycle, we thought it was best to look back to what we just got to play through. And that is Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.55: Growing Light – Part 2! Not only did we get our true onramp storyline-wise leading into the upcoming expansion, but we also got a bunch of capstones to a lot of side content. From Hildebrand blasting off again, to seeing how our allied tribe quests sorted out, we are talking about it all. Yes, even the part about the cheese.

Spoiler Levels: Very Hot, like Spicy Stellar Soup hot! This is a very hot and savory episode. The Carbuncle Chronicle Issue 20: The 2024 Tokyo FanFest Announcements!

And earlier in January we got a whole bunch of announcements made at the 2024 Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, Japan. From the final CG teaser trailer, to Pictomancer, to ~~hrothgals~~ lion ladies, and even [REDACATED], if it was in the keynote, we are here to talk into microphones about them.

OSMinterview! Neil Ross on 1/7/2024

When knowing is half the battle, your battle half for this podcast is that it’s a big ol’ humdinger. John got the chance to talk to one of the greats: Neil Ross. It’s hard to be more prolific than Neil. He was the voice of Shipwreck in the original GI Joe cartoons. The voice of Kieth in the original Voltron from 1984s. He was the voice of the Biff Tannen Museum Narrator in Back to the Future Part II. He was the voice the Green Goblin in the 1994 Spider-Man: The Animated Series. He was the voice of Mayor Domino in Final Fantasy VII Remake.

He was the voice of, okay we could just keep going but then we’d never get to the interview. He has been in a lot. He also happens to now be the author of Vocal Recall A Life in Radio and Voiceovers, a book you should absolutely read.

The Carbuncle Chronicle Issue 18: The 2023 London FanFest Announcements!

Hello Adventurers! The next Final Fantasy XIV expansion, Dawntrail, is arriving next year but this past October during the 2023 London FanFest we got yet more details about it. And perhaps the biggest news (that’s not the new Viper job) was the announcement of the next alliance raid series being in collaboration with Final Fantasy XI. You know, the other Final Fantasy MMO! We need a FFXI expert. Someone who has been in the trenches, really seen some stuff. So, to talk about this we recruited a longtime friend of both The Carbuncle Chronicle and the OSMcast!, Cevian, who was more than up to the task to tell us all about it.
